Just scored the Plat dragon at the local K-mart.... $19.95, and very nice.

Think McFarlane dragon, 2-3 times larger, with articulation, and a mini megabloks building.

And the wings are even bendy!

    re; Thoron Platinum Dragon

I was pointed to this thread by a designer friend, and psycked to see that there seems to be a good amount of appreciation for the Thoron fig.

We (AMS) sculpted the fig for Mega Blocks, Inc. back in January '05. It was a 3 week project and completely done in software (FreeForm modeling) for those of you who are into tech. Our first major dragon sculpt.

AMS will be uploading more information on the Thoron sculpt, RP, and development process in the next month or so. So if you interested, come check us out.
Youll be able to see more at:
www.alienmethod.com (Thoron is in the AMS gallery)

Hopefully we will get the chance to sculpt and develop for McFarlane. They dont seem to want to answer our emails. Doh.

I don't think McFarlane contracts outside help.

Thanks for popping in though! We love to hear from the designers! Thoron rocks!

Yes, Stendhal is out. Scored mine last week...shouldn't have...but had to. Very nice. I prefer Thoron, I think, overall...but Stendhal actually has a bit more detail going on.

AMS-MM: Great to hear from the designers, you guys are always welcome here. I understand there will be a full-cgi movie made for the Dragons line, did they use your models for that as well?

Our sculpt was not actually used for the upcoming CGI film, but this is something that we may like to pursue in future projects. Its very much up to the guys at MB.

Gareee; We sculpt our figs using the FreeForm system. www.sensable.com. The software is quite expensive, but simply cannot be matched in terms of detail achievable, simple learning curve, and speed.

You can see more on our website. www.alienmethod.com (under AMS services/digital modeling)
